RACE TEAM

Five years ago Pendragon Sports set out on a mission to develop cycling and increase sport participation in the South West – A major aspect of our plan has been to build a professional cycling team drawn from the best talent from the region that could act as a focal point for the sport and generate substantial media exposure. The team is at the apex of a cycling development pathway, providing the most gifted riders the opportunity to compete at the highest level, both domestically and internationally.

The pathway was developed through consultation with British Cycling and leading clubs from the region, including One and All (Cornwall), JJ Sports (Devon), Team Tor 2000 (Somerset) and Gillingham Wheelers (Dorset). The pathway, for the first time, provides individuals the opportunity to progress from Go ride induction sessions in schools on to Go Ride Clubs, the British Cycling talent development squad and then onto our team and beyond.

As part of our commitment to get more children active four members of our team have qualified as cycling coaches and will be available to run after school activity throughout the region from February 2010.

Since we formed the team in 2009 we have already become a leading UK team and with a stronger squad for 2010 we expect to be regular visitors to the podium in many of the major UK events, such as the Premier Calendar, Tour Series and National Championships.

We hope you will be able to support the team and our sponsors as well as joining us in the cycling events, holidays and camps that Pendragon organises. We look forward to being able to meet with as many of you as possible at events like the Tour series city centre race in Exeter and if you are unable to make it to see us live that you will follow us through our website and the televised coverage on Eurosport and ITV4.
